If you have an old organizer, I suggest you to discard it away first before you DIY your own new closet organizer. Firstly, clear out the closet organizer you want to organize which also includes all the old shelves, rods and doors. This is also a good chance for you to get rid of any stuff that you do not want to keep and make space for new items. It also makes refilling so much easier at the later stage.
Secondly, after the old closet organizer had been discarded, you must mend all the holes that the old closet left behind. Just use some compound together with a spade to fill up the holes. Let the compound to dry and then apply some paint over and you are done with the second step.
Thirdly, in order to set up the new closet organizer, you will need to mark on the wall on the new position. Now go ahead and measure 2 inches from the ceiling and mark a level line on the new position where you will want to mount the closet hanging tracks. The purpose of this is to get ready for the drilling process.
Fourthly, after you had marked out the area or the new position, you can then start the drilling of holes to mount the hanging tracks. One of the most important steps to take is mounting the closet hanging tracks, if not you are unable to hang your clothes in the closet organizers. Another thing to take note is that if you realize that the hanging tracks is taking on too much weight, you must narrow down the spacing between them to make the hanging tracks stronger and able to withstand more weight without giving you problems.
Fifthly, you will need to install the shelves. Start from the bottom up, choose the space between the floor and the bottom shelf and then continue installing the shelves at intervals appropriate for what you intend to store in the closet.
Last but not least, in order to have the installation job completed, you will need to include the hanging rod in the closet organizer, if not you are unable to hang your clothes. After you had get your shelves all in place, just nip on those hanger supports and then install the rod. By mounting the hanging tracks it reinforce the closet structure. You can also reinforce the tracks with toggle bolts too. After you are done with the installation, happy getting organizes and finds your things whenever you need it.
