Do Professionals Even Want To Play For New York's Ruthless Fans
You would have a tough time finding fans that are more into their sports than New York basketball fans. These fans are widely known as being the toughest to please. They aren't content unless their favorite New York team is playing for the championship every single season. Ask players like one of the famous players who has left about it. These fans are really ridiculous.
With better than average coaching the New York Giants have had a nice run in the playoffs for the last several of years. The fans have plenty to cheer about. The question about whether or not Eli Manning has what it takes has been answered. I just can't see what the fuss is all about. You've got a well coached team that always seems to be in the running come the end of the season.
On the other hand are the fumbling New York Jets. The fans have every reason to be angry at this football organization. The team let their best players go to other teams and then bring in a bunch of chumps. They bring coaches in but don't keep them around long enough to develop anything meaningful. I guess the mindset around ownership doesn't put much weight behind the word perseverance. If they did, you would see more teams building dynasties.
Another big time powder keg within the New York sports groups is the beloved New York Yankees. With that much money being allocated to collect baseballs best basemen it is easy to see why fans get angry after a poor season. There are unrealistic expectations created when that kind of money is invested.
Some people opt to cheer for the other major New York baseball team. Mets fans don't need to worry about the things that plague Yankee fans. They are more pure fans of the sport of baseball. The New York Mets are more consistent than their Yankee brothers. The fans know what to expect. They hope for a pennant but don't expect one every single season. Even though fans are passionate there is far less whining involved when compared to the Yankees.
There are a bunch of ice hockey fans in New York City as well. Fans have the Islanders and the Rangers to get excited over. For a New York sports team, neither one of these hockey teams are consistently great. They have their good and bad years just like any other hockey team. If NHL hockey was as important here as it is in Canada, I am certain you would see some really huge budgets come out of both of those teams.
Basketball is big in New York. Like every other fan, Knicks fans want the Knicks were playing for the NBA championship every year. Most years these guys are pretty good compared to other NBA cities. I suppose a reason for that is the city's ability to attract people to come live there. People, especially wealthy people, love to live in or near NYC. There are so many awesome benefits to living here. One of those benefits is having controversial sports teams to cheer for in every major sport.
