How to Start an Online Business

by Judy Yutong

The trick to earning money online is to not do anything that is overcomplicated. Doing the simple things will ensure that at some point you will have a fully functional business that will be profitable and manageable using only a small amount of your time each day of the week.

One of the first things to take into account when starting an online business is what would your website visitors be ready to buy. It sounds so obvious, but many people who want to money online overlook this simple step.

A great way to maximize your profits is to sell your own product, namely, and e-book. Brainstorm topics that you are knowledgeable about and narrow it down until you choose one. Chances are, others will be looking for content in your field of expertise, and even willing to pay for it.

Keep in mind, however, that most people will not buy a product from you the first time they see it. Be sure to have a way to collect their e-mail addresses on your site, so that you can market to them over and over. This is called using autoresponder.

Your visitors will be looking for value when they subscribe to your newsletter. Perhaps you could offer a short e-course series. Don't forget to pack your e-mails with affiliate links from which you can earn a commission.

Before you make one sale on any product, you must have a way by which to accept payments. One of the easiest ways to do this is to get a free PayPal account. When your business is up and running, you should upgrade your PayPal account to a business account. But until that point, get a free PayPal account and set up a payment button so that you can accept payments and manually process all of your orders.

The last thing to consider is a website that will present your product to possible potential clients. Your website should be professionally designed or at the very least have professional graphics that are created by you using a state-of-the-art graphics software program. This way when potential customers come to the site they will see a professional website and will have more confidence to either purchase your product or subscribe to your free service.
