Themes to Keep Your Kid's Bedrooms Cool

by Felicity River

If you happen to have kids, no doubt they enjoy having their bedroom look exciting. The thing about kids is that usually they decide on one idea for kids bedroom dcor and before you know it their tired of that option and want to redecorate their room again. After all, they want to keep their bedroom looking "cool."

Well, if you're frustrated at trying to pick out a style all the time and shelling out money on children's bedroom furniture, you need to know that it doesn't have to be that expensive. You can find some really great dcor for prices that won't break the bank these days. Here's a look at some good tips and ideas to help you and your children come up with cool themes for their bedroom.

Deciding on a Budget

Hey, kids only need security, safety, and comfort to make their room. Making it their own doesn't have to cost big bucks. So decide how much you've got to spend right now - then stick to it. Go online, visit the stores. But stay on budget.

Remember How Important Gender Is

When choosing the right styles for children's bedrooms, it's definitely a good idea to consider their gender. Most boys aren't going to want any type of dcor that even remotely looks feminine. Girls usually tend to go towards themes with pinks and purples while many boys want something more "manly." When you are choosing a style and all the bedroom decorations that go along with it, you can either go with styles that are gender specific or consider going with a neutral style.

So Many Choices!

Without a doubt, the single most important thing to remember when choosing - besides that gender thing - is that the furniture must be able to stand up to kids being…well…kids. The final consideration after durability is style.

It's also a good idea to consider whether the bedroom is used by one child or two. If you have two kids sharing a room, then the furniture you choose will need to reflect that. You may need bunk beds, a larger dresser or chest of drawers for their clothes, and other pieces of furniture that are large enough to be shared.

Why Not Let Your Children Help Choose?

The kids deserve a shot at helping you make the choices. Why? Well, mostly it's an opportunity to teach them the importance of only buying what you can afford. But secondly, doing it together can anticipate some of the problems associated with "ownership" of the style and themes chosen.

Choosing a Place to Shop

Whether you go down to the local super furniture store, a factory outlet, or shop online there are almost infinite combinations available for budget, durability, style, and theme. My advice is to at least do some serious Google research first. Besides, your children probably know how to do that better than you.

There are many different great cool themes out there to choose from today. Just to name a few there are Princess themes, NASCAR themes, sports related themes, butterfly themes, Disney themes, and so many more. With these helpful tips, picking out a cool theme should be much easier for you today. Remember, you don't have to spend a lot of money to get great children's bedroom furniture, bedding, and accessories to make your kids' bedroom a great place to hang out.
