What Does Your Home's Entryway Say about You?
The best way to welcome your guests and even yourself after a long day at work besides a refreshing drink is a beholding sight of a clean and inviting entryway. How do you achieve this?
Clear the Clutter- If you do not have an entryway closet, invest in a good coat rack. You can find some beautiful wood or brass racks that are stylish, yet big enough to handle all of your coats. When the season changes pack away the outerwear that is no longer needed instead of leaving it on the rack. You can now use the rack for light jackets, summer hats, or umbrellas. You can also often find an umbrella holder that will compliment the coat rack.
Next, have a nice-looking area rug. This is a wake-up call for you if you've been delaying the change of mat or rug in the entryway. A tattered and worn-out rug is not a welcoming sight, whereas a nice area rug is uplifting to look at. You can buy new pieces or you can wash and clean the existing rugs for a new (and neater) look.
Third, decorate the entryway. Yes, beautifying is not only for the main rooms. The entryway will benefit too from decorating, which will consequently be favorable to your home. An attractive welcoming area of the house creates a positive impression. Hang wall decors and repaint the entryway walls. You can also place potted plants or if there's space, place a small chest for displaying a vase of flowers and a cute container for the keys. Beautiful and functional. How nice is that?
Highlight these decorative items with good lighting. It should be sufficient enough to brighten the entrance at nighttime. A soft yellow glow also looks cozier compared to the blinding white light.
Lighting is also very important. Have sufficient amount of lighting that is not blinding yet not too dim. Just enough is the keyword.
Decorating the entryway is well worth the effort. It's an investment for improving your home. What a great way to welcome guests and for coming home, don't you think?
