Work From Home: Your Answer To More Family Time
Every morning you get up at the crack of dawn and rush around like mad to take care of all your responsibilities. You have to get yourself together for work, make sure the kids are ready for school, fed and have their lunch, homework and all the necessary odds and ends for their school day packed up. You may even have to leave the dog out, feed the cat, and clean up the litterbox. And then you spend the entire, clogged commute to work wondering why you can't just work from home.
Does this sound like your daily routine? If it does, and it's really stressing you out, it may be time to consider different options. When you have a family to support, making it on just one income isn't really an option, which is why the majority of families have 2 working parents. But for those who find that a regular 9 to 5 outside the home is taking too much time away from family matters, it may be time to consider the work from home option.
Many people now have the luxury of telecommuting. Most fields, especially those involving desk jobs, data entry, or discussion with clients, are conducive to telecommuting. The caveat is convincing your boss that it is beneficial to the company, not just you. One of the biggest benefits you can sell is that you can start work earlier, since you cut out your commute, and you can save the company money on electricity, phone usage, etc. Not to mention, they can give your office to someone else!
You will, of course, need to be reimbursed for your own computer, electricity and phone usage. Working from home also gives you a ton of business expenses to write off on your taxes, which can be a nice added bonus. If you have to, offer to only try it a couple days a week, to figure out whether it is a benefit to both you and the company.
However, if you're not married to your current field of work, it may be time to switch gears entirely. There are plenty of work from home opportunities listed on the internet, it's just a matter of finding the right one. One thing to keep in mind is that your may not make as much money as you used to. But if your budget has a little give in it, the positives of working at home far outweigh the negatives.
The best part of working from home is the many benefits that come with it. You have the opportunity to work in your pajamas, the opportunity to work after the kids go to bed, even the opportunity to work and get paid on the weekends. The problem is finding the right work at home position for you, and making sure it's not some fly by night scam company.
There are a few warning signs that you may be getting involved in a scam when you apply for a work from home position. For one, if you have to pay a lot of money as an "investment" you may be opening yourself up to a scam. If you search for more information about the position online and nothing but negative comments come up, then you're definitely dealing with a scam!
There are sites available that review work from home opportunities and only list the legitimate ones. Your best bet is to find one of these sites and get in touch with the webmaster for more information on each job. Also, make sure you're researching things yourself on the side as well. As long as you do your homework and find the right work from home opportunity, you can be making money, spending times with your kids and living a remarkably less stressed filled life in no time.
